The Kansas City Police Department and the FBI Academy now co-sponsor six LESTN programs a year. Topics include sexual criminality, criminal profiling, stress management, legal issues for pursuit driving policies, organized crime, police officer safety, semi-automatic pistols, the handling of domestic violence, and interviewing and interrogation. Each teleconference is shown live from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, is viewed by an estimated 20,000 law enforcement personnel, and is later watched by many others by means of videotapes. Broadcasts reach the entire northern hemisphere. Each 3-hour broadcast costs less than $10,000, so the conference clearly pays for itself in saved time and paperwork.
