An overview article reviews mediation research by examining the literature in 10 disciplines, focusing on the various frameworks used by scholars in the study and analysis of mediation. This overview is complemented with interviews of five researchers from various backgrounds -- anthropology, law, sociology, psychology, and organizational behavior. They were queried on what is now known from research into mediation and the principal gaps in knowledge. Another article reports on a major effort to learn more about mediation and other aspects of dispute resolution. This is the Fund for Research on Dispute Resolution. The Fund, affiliated with the National Institute of Dispute Resolution, was established by the Ford Foundation to support research that offers systematic assessments of the impact of disputing and dispute resolution on society. The report on the Fund's efforts to date provides details on its first 20 grants. A third article presents a compilation of funding sources for conflict resolution research.
