Abstract
The two-day training session was held for counselors of battered women from the region including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The first session of the training focused on providing safety and support for battered women and included a discussion of the ways battered women can be used as experts and teachers in the movement to end violence against other women. Training sessions include studies of organizational structure for community domestic violence programs, standards for battered women's shelters, the delivery of services to battered women, and developing community support networks. Training materials include magazine articles, bibliographies, victim characteristics profiles, and discussion materials.
