Title: Federal Drug Data for National Policy
Document: PDF
Author(s): J J Collins; M W Zawitz
Date Published: 1990
Annotation: This report, designed to explore the current status of the Federal information base on illegal drugs, identifies 38 Federal sources of drug data and indicates the drug information available.
Abstract: The 38 sources are either produced or sponsored by 17 agencies in the Departments of State, Defense, Justice, Labor, Education, Health and Human Services, and Transportation. The agencies are categorized according to the type of drug information they provide, i.e., extent of drug use; the consequences of drug use; substance abuse treatment and prevention strategies; the source and volume of illegal drugs available in the Nation; and drugs, crime, and their impact on criminal justice systems. Within these broad categories of data, the report specifies the drug information available from each source, the purpose of the source, the sponsoring agency, and the type of population and geography covered by the data. Each data source is described in both tabular and narrative form. 3 tables.
