Abstract
Programs offering education about rape and training in three programs were presented to target area community groups. These programs, Whistle alert, Women's Distress Shelter Houses, and women's self-defense, are designed to help women respond to threats of assault and to foster community cooperation. An overall program was institutionalized in the community by a network of community organizers. Program impact was measured in two general community surveys and by data obtained from self-selectors who attended rape prevention workshops. 6 figures, 36 tables, 1 appendix.
