This two-day workshop is specifically designed for Boys Clubs selected as sites for Boys Clubs of America's Delinquency Intervention Project.
Abstract
Workshop participants are given an in depth orientation to the project, including current delinquency prevention theories and prevention principles and strategies to more effectively serve "youth at risk" in the Boys Club community. "At-risk" is defined to include youth who have school problems, have run away from home, are abused and/or neglected, and are substance abusers or come from a substance-abusing family. Targeted Outreach attempts to preclude initial occurrence of delinquency and to correct casual processes before delinquent adaptation emerges or becomes well established. As a result of this training, workshop participants will have: (1) an understanding of the Delinquency Intervention Project; (2) developed and increased understanding of Delinquency Prevention theories and principles; (3) developed an action plan to establish and/or improve networks and referral systems; and, (4) developed an action plan to implement programs and activities to better serve youth at risk.
