The program's rehabilitative contributions include the development and reinforcement of work habits, the building of self-esteem, the development of work skills, and the preparation of inmates for reintegration as productive community members. Inmates are compensated in accordance with their production. The disposition of the compensation is controlled by the county to be used for confinement costs, court fines and costs, restitution, inmate family support, and savings available on release. The program has served companies involved in electronic components, nursery plants, cleaning roads, mailings, sewing and repair, footwear, surplus equipment, and the assembly of furnace components. Pretrial inmates work voluntarily under the motivation of privileges. Sentenced inmates have an expanded vocational program that includes preplacement testing, counseling, educational and substance abuse programs, job readiness classes, prerelease counseling, family counseling, and job placement and followup.
