Another table presents the number of courts reporting juvenile court statistics through specified agencies. Other tables report the number of juvenile cases by type, number of cases handled by courts of large jurisdictions, cases handled by race and sex, reason for referral, source of referral, place of detention, and case disposition. Data on Federal juvenile offenders cover the numbers brought to the attention of U.S. probation officers, received in jails and held pending trial, discharged from detention after being held pending trial, placed on probation, and those received under sentence in jails and Federal institutions.
