A plan for a British "Federal Bureau of Investigation" is under consideration, and the Joint Central Committee of the Police Federation has decided that a working group should study the implications.
Abstract
The plan amounts to an elite force of detectives who would deal with major crimes having organized or international ramifications. Besides investigating international crimes, the new body would become a national crime intelligence unit. It is envisioned that the "super force" will be composed of the best available talent to tackle international crime, drugs, and terrorism. Pros and cons of the plan are examined.
