Most models are entirely automatic. Focusing, exposure, flash, winding, and rewinding are all powered and fully automatic. Even setting the film speed is automatic when commonly available DX coded films are loaded. All the user must do is switch on the all-electronic camera, then point and shoot to record in excellent detail most photographic data needed at an accident or crime scene. A few of the better models of compacts have optional features that appeal to more experienced photographers who desire more control over their camera's operation. These same models can also be operated in a fully automatic mode for the less knowledgeable and experienced user. Such cameras might be the logical equipment choice if several people with varying levels of experience will be using one camera. Some of the more desirable advanced features include multiple-beam infrared autofocusing systems and built-in electronic flash systems.
