The law provides for referral to a school attendance review board when a student is habitually truant or habitually disorderly when attending school. The school attendance review board determines what community services are available to resolve the problem and then directs the student as well as the student's parents or guardians to make use of such community services. Should the review board determine that available community services cannot resolve the problem or that the student is not complying with the review board's recommendations, it may refer the case to the juvenile court for disposition. One action the juvenile court may take is to require that the student's parents deliver him/her to the programs designated by the court.
