This report presents the results of the fourth part of a national survey of sentencing in State felony courts from the National Judicial Reporting Program (NJRP) of the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS). It focuses in particular on probation, both the straight and split-sentences types.
Abstract

Statistical information is provided for the number and types of probation sentences; comparison of types of sentences; collateral penalties, outcomes, and length of probation; and incarceration sentences. Additional data are included for types of cases receiving probation sentences; most frequently imposed combinations of possible sentence types, offense seriousness, and number of conviction offenses; case processing time; sex, race and gender of probationers; and likelihood of probation for different age groups. Methodological details are given in data completeness, probation status, collateral penalty and standard errors. 26 tables
