Other findings were: (1) nationwide gender bias in judicial treatment of divorce and child support; (2) lack of funds for women to retain appropriate legal and expert counsel; (3) inconsistencies of alimony awards and distribution of marital assets among judges; and (4) inadequate and unenforced child support. The States are using varied approaches to implement the recommendations of their respective task forces on this issue. They are working on many fronts to pursue judicial and legal education and to achieve administrative and legislative reforms. Some of these approaches are recognizing the monetary value of homemaker work in damage cases, upgrading the status of female court employees, and eliminating gender bias in law schools. 125 notes.
