The model has been applied to 50 cases that were referred to a government-subsidized, community-based treatment facility located in a metropolitan area and serving children up to age 18 and their families. The model reflects the view that the coordination of several treatment approaches is crucial for the effective treatment of child sexual abuse. Thus, the model differs from earlier models by offering coordinated guidelines for assessment and treatment modalities that apply to various family members. A central factor in the treatment process is each person's ability to assume responsibility for that person's role in the trauma and its resolution. Clinical treatment results suggest face validity for the resolution model, but empirical testing is needed to demonstrate its usefulness and impact over a longer time period and its applicability to more types of cases.
