Determining the impact of treatment of the adolescent sex offender is a difficult task at best. Yet without some effort at defining sex offender specific treatment, persons who make referrals (i.e. judges, therapists, etc.) for such care are without any criteria with which to judge its efficacy. A pilot questionnaire has been developed based on the research and clinical literature to record and quantify sex offender specific behaviors.
Abstract
This will facilitate the collection of data which will be utilized in the future to identify variables which assess responses to various types of treatment for adolescent sex offenders. Eventually it is hoped the instrument will help the clinician, treatment program/staff, and court officials feel "safer" and be more accurate in the treatment and discharge planning for adolescent sex offenders. Some recommendations for discharge planning are suggested. A sample questionnaire, "Assessment of Adolescent Sex Offender Treatment" is appended. 13 references. (Author abstract)
