Questionnaires were mailed to all agencies listed in the seventh edition of the directory and to additional agencies identified by staff of the National Criminal Justice Reference Service. The 176 listed organizations all provide information services and criminal justice information as major functions; provide information through data base searches, document dissemination or delivery, reference services, technical assistance, and practical information on setting up programs; answer telephone and mail requests; and provide services or membership at costs that are not prohibitive or excessively restrictive. For each organization, the sponsoring agency, address, telephone number, user restrictions, contact person, objectives, services offered, collection size, publications, and other information are listed.
