The text is also intended to provide the knowledge needed for British retail and security personnel studying for vocational and professional examinations on retail security. Further sections define theft offenses and other offenses, explain arrest laws and procedures, and outline the steps involved in the processing of a criminal case. Additional chapters explain security approaches relating to employee hiring and supervision, the handling of inventories, procedures during emergencies such as fires and threats, the role of insurance, and security equipment such as closed-circuit television and identity cards.
