The paper examines the relationship of worry and concern about AIDS to the perception of risk for AIDS, change in sexual behavior, individuals' knowledge of AIDS, health locus of control and a number of sociodemographic factors. The self-reported sexual practices and changes in sexual behavior of a specific population of homosexual men are also presented.
Abstract
Results of a comprehensive package of self-report questionnaires completed by 1484 homosexual men and consisting of a demographic questionnaire and the five areas being studied indicate a decline in high-risk sexual behavior. The study identified a definite link between feelings of worry and concern and a reported behavioral change in this study group. Longitudinal studies are recommended for further research. 1 table and 25 references. (Author abstract modified)
