The bibliography is divided into three sections: book, government publications, and monographs; periodical literature that deals with the disease itself, and periodical literature dealing with AIDS and society listed alphabetically by subject. Topics in the disease part cover etiology, diagnosis, HIV positive, pathology, virology, occurrence, immunology, transmission, complications, patient care, treatment, prevention, and research. The society section deals with abortion, attitudes, economics, education, employment, high-risk individuals, insurance, legal, ethical and moral issues, pediatrics, confidentiality, politics, prisons, psychiatry, schools, and surgery. It also includes a list of journals cited, a subject heading index, and an author index.
