The learning goal of this unit of instruction, designed as a guideline for performance objective-based law enforcement basic training, is for the student to gain understanding and a working knowledge of the laws and procedures relative to juveniles.
Abstract
The guide presents a detailed outline accompanied by objectives and instructional cues. Topics covered include ways to distinguish criminal law from juvenile law, the source of California juvenile law, the authority of juvenile court, officers' responsibilities and the rights of minors, emergency medical treatment, emancipation, selected education code sections, the sealing of juvenile records, and departmental procedures.
