The training program begins with a group introduction, followed by a series of informative and attitudinal sessions about sexual abuse. Some of the issues covered include statistics and definitions of sexual abuse, unreported cases, dynamics of sexual abuse, and the impact and effects of sexual abuse. The training program then focuses on the skills that adoptive parents must develop including repetition, consistency, structure and stability, supervision, discipline, and family roles and rules. This section also examines the various attitudes that may be experienced by the adoptive parents and by the sexually abused child. The final component of the training program discusses the impact the child's sexual abuse will have in different life stages. The manual includes a section on the background of the training program and discusses a literature review, the training content, results, and case studies. 36 references
