Abstract
Part one begins with concepts of human nature including dignity, confidence, and internal and societal balance and draws the immediate conclusion that crime is damaging in every way to one's self and to others. This forms the basis for the Australian criminal justice system's intention to punish in accord to the severity of the crime and to help the criminal choose not to commit future crimes. Part one introduces a step-by-step formula for realizing a vision (Desire + Ability + Opportunity = Realizing Our Vision) and then transposes it into a crime actualization formula to suggest that crime can be prevented by removing any one or all of the components. Later chapters cover aspects of the working group, the community meeting, identifying the problem, and setting goals. Part two covers the planning, implementation, and evaluation of crime prevention programs. Both parts conclude with the theme, "Realizing our vision." 6 appendixes, 4 charts, 13 references
