The program strives to change the juvenile's negative behavior patterns at home, in school, and with peers and probation officers by forcing them to accept responsibility. Students are referred to the program by probation officers or judges; the aftercare program consists of continuing education, training, or employment. At the Academy, students study typical school subjects, learn vocational skills, and receive counseling. In addition to participating in a cost-effective corrections program, the students pay restitution to their victims through Academy work programs. Increased referrals have led to a significant expansion of the program since its founding. Many success stories attest to the benefits of the program.
