Information from Uniform Crime Report and Uniform Offense Report Data formed the basis of this analysis of burglary and the profiles of burglars in Kentucky during 1988.
Abstract
The analysis was also designed to demonstrate the potential uses of incident-based data in Kentucky law enforcement agencies. The data came mainly from the rural areas of the State and did not include the State's two major cities. Results showed that more than 7,000 burglaries were reported to the Kentucky State Police in 1988. Of these, 5,015 were forced-entry, residential burglaries. The majority of offenders were white males between ages 18 and 29. Results showed the usefulness of Uniform Offense Report data to officials at both the administrative and operational levels. Figures
