This project planning guide to the Bluelake County (California) New Correctional Center articulates current planning assumptions and proposes a general operational system to ensure the best use of available space. Additional planning considerations are also discussed in the report.
Abstract
Major planning assumptions are organized into several categories including visiting, intake and release, central control, housing units, food processing center, medical and dental services, educational services, recreational services, laundry services, and barber services. The New Correctional Center will supplement the four existing components of the county jail system. Planning considerations encompass housing and security requirements. Location and access and site utilities are included in the facility description. The planning guide for this facility also discusses the preliminary architectural program, outline specifications, project budget and schedule, pre-purchase items and owner-purchased items, and an equipment list.
