The 1990 drug related legislation covers perinatal substance abuse, alcohol and drug abuse services for special populations, third party payment for alcohol and drug abuse services, statewide coordination, funding for alcohol and drug abuse services, drug in the workplace and in schools, increased penalties, and enforcement. There is a list of legislative priorities related to drug use in California. The list includes such as reducing waiting lists for drug treatment services, implementing treatment and prevention services in prisons, establishing culturally and ethnically sensitive treatment and prevention services, increasing funds to local governments for street-level enforcement of drug laws, and continuing vigorous prosecution for all drug offenses.
