This report presents a statistical analysis of 1989 State and local crime data for Maine under the auspices of the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program.
Abstract
It explains the development of the UCR in Maine, its objectives, potential uses, reporting and verification procedures, and policy statement. It provides statistical data for crime rates, index crimes including violent and property crimes of murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, domestic violence, burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Data on stolen and recovered property values, clearance rates, arrests, particularly drug and liquor arrests are included together with data on police employment and officers assaulted. The report concludes with a county crime analysis, sample community profile, and classification of offenses. Instructions are provided for calculation of crime rates, clearance rates, crime trend data, and police employee data. 70 tables and graphs
