The three components can be incorporated sequentially or simultaneously into an existing curriculum. The first is a seminar series with readings consisting of 6-12 sessions on basic information and description on child and adolescent substance abuse and its diagnosis, treatment, and after care. The second component consists of a block rotation on an adolescent chemical dependency inpatient service, whereas the third component provides tutorial and modeling experiences from ongoing participation ina functioning substance abuse treatment service. Relevant issues include finding time for substance abuse education in the current curriculum, content of curriculum, and funding support. 3 tables and 17 references (Author abstract modified)
