The standard for the aims of court organization states that court organization should "serve the courts' basic task of determining cases justly, promptly, effectively, and efficiently." Standards for the unified court system address unified court structure, the trial court, and the appellate court. Standards pertaining to competent judges cover judge selection, the discipline and removal of judges, judicial compensation, judge retirement, continuing judicial education, judicial officers assisting judges, judges pro tempore, and judicial performance evaluation programs. Standards for rulemaking authority, administrative policy, and administrative authority are provided as well.
