Abstract
The goal of the book is to serve as a comprehensive healing guide for all survivors regardless of how or when they were abused, to detail the amount of sexual abuse recovery work has already been done, and to review present life-styles and sexual orientations. Topics covered include identifying the sexual effects of sexual abuse, creating a positive meaning for sex, developing a healthy sexual self-concept, gaining control over upsetting automatic reactions to touch and sex, stopping negative sexual behaviors, establishing or improving intimate relationships, developing a new approach to touch and resolving specific sexual problems, and discovering the joys of sexual intimacy. The book includes first-person accounts of women and men at every stage of the sexual healing journey and exercises and techniques for survivors to work on alone or with their partners. A concluding chapter lists related books, articles, tapes, organizations, and programs.
