The Westchester County (New York) Youth Bureau provides a broad range of coordinated services designed to prevent juvenile delinquency and promote youth development.
Abstract
The Bureau offers county-wide comprehensive youth services planning and designs research projects to determine youth needs. The Citizen Youth Board, appointed by the County Executive, works with the Youth Bureau to develop effective programs and policies. The Bureau also seeks to fill identified gaps in services and local youth service priorities by procuring Federal, State, and local funds. Finally, the Bureau provides technical assistance to municipal and other youth serving agencies. This report briefly describes the 46 non-recreational programs provided through 34 county-wide agencies and serving 22,000 youth. Budgetary data is also included in the report as are three newspaper articles describing various programs.
