Abstract
Core tasks for each staff position are described, followed by statements of the duties required to implement each of the tasks. Correctional officer I provides input to the management team, observes and reports on inmates, maintains security, conducts searches, operates and controls keys and equipment, supervises inmate activities, supervises visits and transfers, and implements policy. Correctional officer II performs the same functions as correctional officer I, with the addition of the tasks of managing a small inmate caseload, participating on the case-management team, interviewing and counseling inmates, and training officers. The case management officer coordinates, promotes, and controls case management for inmates in cooperation with the correctional supervisors. The case management officer chairs the case-management meetings. The correctional supervisor is the primary back-up and support for the unit manager. The coordinator of correctional operations is the principal agent and coordinator for the introduction and maintenance of security-related policy and programs, and the case management coordinator acts as the principal agent and coordinator for the introduction and maintenance of case-management policy and programs. The unit manager is responsible for the overall development and implementation of operational goals, objectives, and procedures.
