In addition to presenting data on California Superior Court dispositions for the quarter ending June 30, 1990, this report presents information on court felony actions over a number of years.
Abstract
For each Superior Court jurisdiction, data are presented by crime category. The data for each crime category cover the total number of cases, the number and percentage of State prison sentences, the number and percentage of probation dispositions with and without jail as a condition, the number of misdemeanor sentences with and without jail as a condition, and the number and percentage of other dispositions. Another table compares the number of convictions for felonies for 1986 through 1989, with the projected number in 1990. The table compares the current rate of prison commitments with the commitment rates over the past few years and at the beginning of determinate sentencing. Another table shows the rates of prison commitments by appellate district for selected crimes for the 6-month periods ending June 1986 through June 1990. Statistics on the length of determinate prison sentences cover quarters from March 31, 1984, through June 30, 1990. The percentage of convictions by trial and plea are shown for drug law violations and selected other crimes for the quarter ending June 1990. Appendixes contain amendments to sentencing rules effective January 1, 1991, and a memorandum on the computation of conduct credits. 13 tables
