Abstract
The average daily population figures are given for males and females in adult and juvenile inmates' categories. General statistical information is provided for the incarceration rates, overcrowding and capacity, and pretrial population levels in the State. The daily population figures are also grouped into felony, misdemeanor, and others to facilitate interpretation. Within the felony and misdemeanor subcategories, data are presented for the number of inmates held for trial or sentencing and those denied or sentenced for violation of probation for June 1991. Included in the other subcategory are the number of parole violators, State inmates, undocumented aliens, holdings for other jurisdictions and individuals detained under the Baker (mental health) and Myers (alcoholism) Acts. In addition, the average daily population figures, incarceration rates for each County, number of overcrowded County detention facilities and the pretrial inmate levels for each facility are included in this report. County detention facilities with amended capacities since May 1991 are denoted in tabular form. 4 tables and 6 figures (Author abstract modified)
