A sample of 582 college males was surveyed to examine and describe the incidence of hidden child sexual molestation. Three percent of the sample reported activity that fulfilled the criteria for sexually molesting a younger child.
Abstract
In 86 percent of the cases, the molestation was initiated by the men, and 67 percent of the cases involved a female victim. The molesters and nonmolesters in the sample did not differ significantly on family background variables, current adjustment measures, or measures of attitudes conceptually linked to sexually aggressive behavior. However, the group of molesters was more likely to endorse rape myths and to have been sexually victimized in their childhood. 21 references (Author abstract modified)
