Felony arrests in the State totaled 100,192 for the first 6 months of 1991, a decrease of 5 percent from the 105,624 felony arrests reported for the same period in 1990. Felony drug arrests dropped from 30,210 in 1990 to 27,759 in 1991, an 8-percent decrease. A total of 38,050 felony indictments were reported for the first half of 1991, 1 percent below the 38,544 felony indictments reported for 1990. Felony drug indictments followed the declining trend in felony drug arrests and dropped 8 percent from 1990 to 1991, down from 16,884 in 1990 to 15,508 in 1991. Convictions showed a 2-percent increase from 1990 to 1991, up from 33,174 in 1990 to 33,962 in 1991. During the same period, drug convictions fell 8 percent.
