The data collected for this Uniform Crime Report (UCR) provides an assessment of the crime situation in Arkansas.
Abstract
In 1990, there were 114,372 serious crimes in Arkansas. A record 239 murders were committed. The crime rate was established at 4,888 serious crimes for every 100,000 inhabitants. Ten percent of the 143,144 arrests involved persons under age 18. The value of property stolen totaled $87,584,114; recovered property was estimated to be $34,118,354 with a recovery rate of 39 percent. During 1990, there were 1,009 reported rapes, an increase of 9 percent compared to 1989, and 8,519 reported aggravated assaults. Residential burglaries accounted for 70 percent of all burglaries reported. No law enforcement officers were killed feloniously while on duty during 1990. A total of 266 assaults on officers were reported with 40 percent of these resulting in personal injury to the officer.
