This report summarizes the laws regarding AIDS, HIV antibody testing, and related issues enacted in 36 States during their 1988 legislative sessions.
Abstract
The laws focus on reporting requirements, consent to testing, contact and partner notification regarding HIV antibody test results, confidentiality and disclosure, counseling, and discrimination. They also focus on intravenous drug abuse and AIDS transmission, penalties for donating blood or other actions taken with the knowledge of being HIV positive, AIDS prevention, public health measures, school health, AIDS in correctional facilities, and occupational health issues related to AIDS.
