This booklet is intended as a tool for public education on Montana's criminal justice system and for criminal justice planning.
Abstract
State demographic data are compared with national demographic data, and Montana's ranking among the States for each demographic data item is presented. Data on crime in Montana cover the 1980's. Other data pertinent to crime are the number of law enforcement employees and student attendance at the State law enforcement academy for 1980-88. Statistics on highway traffic safety address United States and Montana alcohol-related traffic fatalities, total and repeat drunk driving convictions, and United States and Montana fatality rates. Also included is a comparison of driving records of drivers in fatal accidents and typical drivers. Information and data pertinent to the State Department of Justice address the Identification Bureau's work (missing and unidentified persons) and the operations of the Law Enforcement Services Division.
