Series victims are compared to non-series victims in terms of marital status, seriousness of attack, and whether or not the police were summoned. The findings showed very little differentiation between the most recent event in a series victimization and the incidents in single victimization assaults. In addition, series victimization reports could not be differentiated from non-series incident reports in terms of describing family income, occupational status, or type of interview conducted. There were differences found in the contingency table analysis variables for marital status, race, and gender; fewer series reports were found for wives, blacks and males. The author concludes that there seems to be no purpose to removing series victims from future analyses of wife battering; he also notes that the findings confirm the normalization of severe battering victims. 9 tables, 41 references, and 1 appendix
