Abstract
Federal spending on drug control programs has increased more than 750 percent since 1981, and $12.7 billion was requested for fiscal year 1993. The Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988 requires that the National Drug Control Strategy describe the balance of resources devoted to supply and demand reduction activities. National funding priorities for fiscal years 1993 through 1995 encompass large-scale drug trafficking organizations, improved strategic and operational intelligence capabilities, effective programs in primary producer and transit countries, multiagency and cooperative government efforts, the development of new research and technologies for supply and demand reduction activities, prevention programs that target hard-to-reach populations, and increased availability and effectiveness of drug treatment services. The agency summaries include a list of available resources, program goals, and a budget summary.
