The CC/ROP Expert System is designed to supply specific police agencies with a CC/ROP plan tailored to their particular needs and circumstances. Following the presentation of a request form for a program plan, the document supplies a checklist of 21 factors the CC/ROP Expert System uses in the development of a plan. The factors include target population, typical offenses committed by CC/ROP's, number of offenders estimated to be in the target population, the most persistent crime problem in the jurisdiction, and a number of organizational and jurisdictional factors. A sample of rule-based text files for CC/ROP's discusses the activities involved in preparing CC/ROP packages, apprehension strategies, obtaining pretrial detention, and supporting the prosecution of the case. A "Quick Check" for a CC/ROP plan presents a preliminary design for a program developed by the expert system for the Reno Police Department.
