This directory lists over 1,400 programs across the United States that provide the essential needs of a male or female parolee: employment, housing, financial assistance, food, clothing, and referrals to other social service agencies. Many of these programs are specifically designed for parolees, others are willing to help anyone in need of their services, and yet others are State or Federal programs designed for anyone within income guideline criteria.
Abstract
The directory is divided into general programs, women's programs, and veterans' programs; each section is listed by State and alphabetized. The information included in the directory was obtained largely through a direct mail survey; every organization included is able to provide at least one service and is willing to assist ex-felons. The author emphasizes that there are services available in every State and that there are options available to any parolee who decides to exercise them.
