The first chapter provides information on Canadian crime rates and rates of adult and juvenile imprisonment as well as statistics regarding probation and parole, pardons, and Canadian correctional facilities. The second chapter deals with the Federal correctional system, run under the auspices of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). There is information on CSC facilities and on characteristics of the offender population including, inter alia, distribution of offender population by region and by security level, admissions and releases, offender profiles, and sentencing data. The pamphlet covers parole and mandatory supervision, temporary absences, inmate education and employment, and inmate rights. The final two sections examine the CSC budget, expenditures, and revenues, and costs of incarceration.
