The material is presented in three units. The first unit introduces the concept of justice using bears in comic strips to illustrate problems of sharing, taking turns, and not having time to be fair. Stories of the little red hen and an Easter egg hunt are also used to illustrate fairness. The second unit covers fair ways to make things right. The bears illustrate problems of taking things, taking other peoples turns, and not being fair to someone. Real life examples are provided. In the first example, two boys are chasing each other in a hall, and knock down a girl who was carrying a glass of milk; in the second, a fight ensues between a boy and a girl over taking turns riding a tricycle. The third unit talks about fair ways to find out things and to decide things. It also contains a lesson on fairness in the case of a stolen book in a classroom and in a situation where a family is deciding where to go for an outing.
