These statistics, which have been published annually since 1981, include for the first time the State of Hessen; consequently, with the exception of Schleswig-Holstein, all West German Laender or States are represented. The first section presents surveys of the transactions of prosecutors from 1985 to 1988; a special chart for 1988 divides these cases according to court districts. The second section focuses on resolved cases: the number of resolved cases; the manner of resolution; the duration of the proceedings; and the number of suspects involved. The third section is devoted to special business offenses: number of cases; type of offense; type of sentence; length of proceedings; and the number of suspects. Section 4 provides insight into the amount of time public prosecutors devoted to the different tasks of their profession. Section 5 analyzes the activities of prosecutors at higher and appellate courts, while the final section informs on resolved cases at the same courts.
