This collection publishes detailed statistics on West German prosecuting transactions for 1988.
Abstract
The first section provides a general survey of suspects who were prosecuted in West Germany and in the 11 West German Laender (or States) from 1955 to 1988. Sections 2 and 3 focus on specific characteristics of those prosecuted and on the type of sentence they received. Section 4 presents statistics on juvenile sentencing while section 5 focuses on alternative and/or additional sentences such as the loss of drivers license and loss of civil rights. The remaining sections provide statistics on convicts who had received detention pending trial, convicts with previous convictions, and non-German convicts. A detailed list of offense types which were prosecuted in 1988 is appended. Unlike a shorter version of the same statistics published annually by the same agency, this collection includes complete information on each individual type of offense.
