This report provides the law enforcement community and the criminal justice system with information on police officers in Missouri who were killed in the line of duty between 1981 and 1990 or who were assaulted between 1986 and 1990. Data are also provided on Missouri's law enforcement personnel levels from 1986 through 1990.
Abstract
The report is divided into four sections. The first two present data displays concerning sworn law enforcement officers killed or assaulted while on duty; the displays portray the circumstances surrounding these incidents and are intended to contribute to the development of proactive policies. The third section consists of information on the size and composition of law enforcement personnel resources, while the final section summarizes data on law enforcement employment and officer assaults for specific law enforcement jurisdictions in Missouri. 20 tables and 6 figures
