Sanctions statistics are presented by offense type, the age and criminal record of the defendant, the average term of imprisonment and fine, and the sex of the offender. Statistics on imprisonment cover the years 1970 through 1990. They show different types of increases, transfer, and decreases by sex of the person and type of sanction. The lengths of prison stays are shown by inmate sex, type of sanction, district, and institution. The average number of inmates is indicated by sex, sanction type, and type of imprisonment. 17 figures and 58 tables
