Abstract
The center conducts youth-related research in collaboration with University of Hawaii researchers, research organizations, and community organizations. It is also the depository for information on youth-related research at the University of Hawaii. It develops, disseminates, and exchanges information on youth research, programs, and issues through databases, networks, publications, consultation, conferences, workshops, and expert testimony. The center organizes and participates in groups to work on key research and development themes and also develops youth-related policy briefings for policymakers. It provides research and practicum opportunities for graduate students. This report describes the work of center staff members as they participate in described local and national organizations for children, youth, and families for the purpose of obtaining information for the center and providing information from the center. Research studies sponsored by the center included a youth gang project, the use of parks and recreation facilities to help youth, exemplary neighborhood-based programs for child protection, and a youth development project. Center publications and conferences for 1990-91 are listed.
